Old weaving techniques
Old weaving looms make beautiful fabrics: A chance encounter with a person who knew of three pedal powered heritage looms sent to NZ after WW II to help the rehabilitation of injured servicemen and which were gathering dust in a South Otago shed led to a new venture for a young South Otago couple.
On first learning how to to use the looms they have since produced hundreds of metres of fabric, including tartan, tweed and herringbone to make a range of products including blankets, clothing and furnishings. The highlight for the couple has been the connections made with local suppliers of wool and of working with people passionate about wool.
