Who are we?

NZ Country Trails is a project initiated by Jim Collins & Partners in association with Federated Farmers of NZ.

What is our aim?

The NZ Country Trails website aims to connect travellers to small rural businesses, with unique on-farm experiences throughout New Zealand.

Who is the site for?

The NZ Country Trails website aims to connect travellers to small rural businesses, with unique country life experiences throughout New Zealand that make for such a huge part of our economy and our brand.

What do travellers expect to find there?

They can view rural offerings in each region throughout NZ and connect with business owners to arrange visits and make bookings for their holidays.

What is the NZ Country Life experience?

For some it will be about personally getting to know the kinds of people and places whose intriguing stories are told on the likes of Country Calendar, RNZ’s Country Life programme and in NZ Life and Leisure magazine features. For others it will be about contributing – about supporting the small, often family-run businesses of a rural community,
e.g. through the simple purchase of lunch at a local café; or assisting to protect and preserve the natural landscape for our enjoyment now and for our future generations, e.g. by helping a farmer plant trees.

Curious to know what we are all about? Watch our recent feature on the TVNZ’s Rural Delivery program where you can meet Jim, the founder of NZ Country Trails and learn about how rural New Zealanders are benefiting from our trail experiences.

NZ Country Trails is comprised of four people who are experienced in
researching and understanding the rural economy. Our combined skills
realise the full contribution the rural economy can make to NZ’s social
and economic development.
