The Fossil Point Cafe and Gallery is situated a short distance from Cheviot and about an hour and half drive from Christchurch. Founded by internationally recognised ceramicist Kim Henderson, the on-site gallery features the works of Kim and numerous local artists.

The Cafe is renowned for the quality of its breakfast and lunch menus for travellers on their road journey along State Highway 1 on New Zealand's East Coast and convivial atmosphere on Friday evenings when dinner and drinks are also served. The Cafe has its own beautiful garden where travellers can relax and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
