Growing Daffodils story
On 150 ha of flat river bed land beside the Selwyn river in Nth Canterbury a couple use clever growing techniques to extend the growing season for daffodils to almost six months of the year.
A love of flowers and viticulture was the motivating force behind the couple’s efforts. “I love daffodils,” enthused one co-owner, “they make me smile every time I look at them.” From an early age her partner had been selling flowers from a barrow in Cathedral Square and ended up with nine flower shops. The daffodils, along with tulips are sold all around NZ.
