About:
On 150 ha of flat river bed land beside the Selwyn river in Nth Canterbury a couple use clever growing techniques to extend the growing season for daffodils to almost six months of the year. A love of flowers and viticulture was the motivating force behind the couple’s efforts. “I love daffodils,” enthused one co-owner, “they make me smile every time I look at them.” From an early age her partner had been selling flowers from a barrow in Cathedral Square and ended up with nine flower shops. The daffodils, along with tulips are sold all around NZ.

About:
Two children who grew up on a 48,000 ha high-country sheep station, close to the Clarence River in North Canterbury, talk of the leisurely and quaint up-bringing they enjoyed mixed with Sunday evenings ending in hymn singing around the piano, hardship and hard work. They talked of the history of their tightly constructed community comprising station hands, shepherds, aunts and governesses, a cook and nurse as well as the near death experiences of crossing a river which dominated their lives.

About:
Jane works from her studio in Culverden, North Canterbury. Jane and Tom's garden has developed over the last 20 years with the aim to make the most fabulous views of farmland, to rolling hills and onto the mountains behind Hanmer Springs. Two large ponds and seperate garden areas have bird life and plant life that are subjects in many of Jane's paintings. The farm, her multiple dog and horse companions are also her source of painting material, which ends up on paper canvas using oils, watercolour and charcoal. Family and friends are in on it too.
Jane, along with two other garden and art lovers, will be holding a special "Art in the Garden" event early in 2021. For more information you can click here.

About
Lock Leven is a garden of National Significance, award 5 stars by the New Zealand Garden Trust. The three acre garden has evolved over the last 31 years and is still evolving. Large borders are filled with a rich array of plants including roses, rhododrendons, shrubs, perennials, hostas, irises and peonies. You will see oaks, ashes, elms and silver birches planted throughout a large expanse of lawn and garden to give shade and tranquility. A dry-stone wall garden has been planted with silver and grey plants. A more naturalistic planting of natives and grasses on the outskirts blends well with large rocks and wire art. A summerhouse adds tranquility. Numerous old bricks have been used to path areas. Raised pottage vegetable beds and a small espaliered fruit tree orchard are very productive and attractive. Spectacular views of Mt Lyford and the Lower Peaks range can be viewed from the garden. The nursery provides a wide selection of plants the owners propagate.

About
The ringing of an anvil can be heard high in the hills overlooking the beautiful Waipara Valley. Raymond Herber's workshop is situated in an old Amberley Lime Works, which is now known as Iron Ridge Quarry Sculpture Park. The Quarry has been carved out of limestone once used by local farmers over the generations for spreading onto their properties. This once derelict quarry has now been transformed into a magical outdoor exhibition space, a no small task. Truck loads of top soil have been carted onto the property for plants to grow, like hardy natives best suited to the hardy climate. This is a place like no other and people now come from far and wide to picnic, to relax and spend time in this stunning setting to view the sometimes "wacky" art works one display.
